Easy Access Bathrooms – Project Three

For this project we were asked to install an easy access shower area into a bedroom. The floor had to be level and everything that was installed had to be easy to use and clean. There were a couple of elements to confront before work began, firstly how much of the bedroom to use for the shower area, how could we install hot and cold water feeds into the room and where can the waste run away to.

We started by moving the existing radiator over to make space for the shower area. Then we stripped back the existing floor, this allowed us to lower the floor level and install the necessary drainage. We then installed the stud sections and the preformed floor inside the shower area, the preformed shower area was used to create the fall so the water ran into the drain. We used multi panels on the walls instead of tiles, this was to make cleaning a lot easier.

To finish we installed the Aqualisa Quartz shower, this was used because of the digital controls which are easy to turn and do not ceased up. The half height doors, wall hung toilet and hand rinse basin were also fitted. The half height doors allow for a carers assistance without the carer getting wet. When the project was completed the shower area was easy to access and use.
