Bathrooms – Project One

This project had a few unique problems, first the room incorporated the slope of the stairs. There are two windows to work round and the room is not long enough to facilitate a standard bath. The brief for this was for a bath, shower enclosure and vanity units, a big ask for such a small room. Our design team set to work researching sizes of baths, shower enclosures and furniture etc to get the most out of the room. Once the plan was finalised our engineers began by removing the existing suite, tiles and disposing of all rubbish. There was a lot of ground work to complete before we could start installing anything. The waste pipe for the shower tray needed to be chopped into the floor so it would be low enough for the shower enclosure to fit. Also walls needed to be studded out to make room and hide pipe work.

We then installed the ceiling panels, there was a supporting beam in the ceiling so we had to lower the ceiling to keep a clean line and elegant look. We fitted four spot lights two of which could be angled to direct the light to the other side of the room. We then installed the shower tray, the Multi panels, the Aqualisa Visage Digital shower and Alba 900 x 760 offset quadrant shower enclosure. The bath was also first fixed, for this we installed a 1600mm bath and centralised it between the door wall and window wall. We then boxed in the gaps that were left in preparation for tiling. Our installation team then first fixed the vanity units and installed the worktops to match the Multi panels.

Our tiler started with the wall over the bath and created a feature by installing a vertical section of mosaic tiles inline with the bath taps. Then he complete the rest of the bathroom with a neutral tile to complement the colours of the vanity units, Multi panels and floor. The second fix commenced with the installation of the chrome heated towel rail. Then the basin and toilet where fitted along with the plinths, handles and bath panels. Finally we cleaned down, sealed everything and made good the walls outside. The finished look is a stunning room with a good sized shower enclosure, bath, storage space and easy to maintain.
